If that were mine, id bale it and feed cows on the same paddock. Your still left with two inches of plant and all of the roots. Would make seeding a hell of a lot easier and less prone to blowing away. Buried plants also consume nitrogen to break them down so your even worse off. A couple of hundred 12 month old steers in there for a month and id say eat till ya cant eat no more and shit ya little hearts out.five weeks later you have a fertilized paddock thats not gonna be a pain in the arse to reseed and a stack of fat little moo cows that can go for a ride on the back of a Kenworth. Add it up. The cost of fuel to seed it, the cost of seed, cost of fertilizer, maybe cost of irrigation?? , wear n tear on tractor, wear n tear on cultivator, it all adds up to a shit load. Cheaper to spread fertilizer with all the trace elements etc in one shot, then plant whatever it is ya want to make money out of.

I've done that several times in past years. It's the fastest way to build soil back up that is lacking, and really efficient approach when you have time to grow it between crops. Does wonders for the soil.
